Recipe Description:

Gyoza: little pockets full of history, handcrafted with a delicate casing and a moreish filling, then steamed to silky smoothness or pan-fried to perfection. Various folk stories surrounding the origins of gyoza exist. What we know for sure is that they originated in China and were adopted by the Japanese; the word gyoza is quite literally the Japanese pronunciation of the Chinese ‘jiaozi’. Post WW2, Japanese soldiers reproduced the dumplings they’d eaten in China, bringing this new food to their homes. Today, gyoza is one of Japan's national foods. Crispy on the outside and filled with an irresistibly mouth-watering filling of prawn, garlic and ginger on the inside, we served these pockets of joy with a tangy soy dipping sauce.
