Recipe Description:

The doner kebab dates back to the 17th century Ottoman Empire in Bursa, Turkey. In the mid 19th century, Ottoman chefs changed the world of meat roasting by discovering that when meat was spitted horizontally, the fat dripped down into the fire, causing the flames to rise up and singe the meat. Turning the spit vertically kept the flames in check and washed the meat in a tasty bath of fat. While it’s unlikely you have a kebab spit to hand at home, this is the tastiest thing you’ll get to the real thing, and it’s healthier too!
